Barcelona Activa has created a new project focused on entrepreneurs in the mobile industry, Mobile Startup in Barcelona. It consists of supporting the sector through a website, a sector that is becoming more and more important, since the mobile applications market is one of the largest at the moment of new technologies.
In the new website we can find the startups that participate and their investors, events and activities organized by the city of Barcelona to promote and grow the concept of M-Startup. Just like us at BCNewt, the Barcelona Startup Map, they also support the promotion of coworking in Barcelona, offering a place to work in a community in a shared workspace.
The accelerators that appear on the website are three companies dedicated to the incubation of Mobile-Startup.
Startup boot camp
First we find the Startupbootcamp Internet of Things & Data, a leading accelerator focused on new entrepreneurial startups emerging from the world of interconnected devices and big data.
The secret ingredient is the global pool of more than 750 mentors who provide invaluable value through coaching and relationships with clients, partners and investors. In Barcelona, Startupbootcamp is associated with companies such as Google, Amazon, PayPal, Samsung, Ajuntament de Barcelona, Mobile World Capital, Claro Partners, Cisco, Aqualogy, Lantay Rousaud Costas Duran.
Startupbootcamp is the best European startup accelerator with 10 programs in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Israel, Istanbul, London and Singapore, and a network of mentors and mentees in more than 30 countries.
In second place is Gamebcn, the first video game incubator in southern Europe located in Barcelona. It aims to contribute to the development of teams coming mainly from universities.
With a duration of 4 months, the process offers a comprehensive program of professionalization, theoretical and practical training, and follow-up and support in a unique ecosystem for video game developers. After the test day, qualified companies will be selected to participate in an 8-month Acceleration Program.
And finally there is IMPACT, who subsidize, accelerate and invest in the best M-Startups leading them to generate a global impact. IMPACT(Internet Mobile Projects Accelerator) is one of the 16 consortia selected by the European Commission. It consists of ISDI, Buongiorno, Teknologiudviking ApS, Seaya Ventures and a network of renowned entrepreneurs and professionals from the European digital ecosystem.
These three accelerators currently work with twenty Mobile Startups and are divided according to the accelerator they work with.
Startupbootcamp has the highest number of collaborating startups: 50%. Many of these startups are dedicated to creating applications (apps) that function as tools, whether for everyday use at home or at work.
Then we find GameBCN, which, as its name suggests, is dedicated to incubating startups dedicated to the video game sector, and in which they collaborate with eight of the twenty startups.
Finally, even though the IMPACT only has two startups, but they are still interesting, for example 8fit, a mobile application that helps you stay in shape by adapting to your time, helping you do the exercises with short on-screen demonstrations and even developing a personalized fitness plan.
